The officials also mentioned that this kind of verification is necessary and will be beneficial to ensure the transparency and proper utilisation of the funds released by the centre.
This special audit will be done through field visits wherein the CAG will look at the project-wise utilisation of the allocated funds and the performance of the beneficiary units. It will also involve on-spot verification of the expenditure incurred under the project and review the effectiveness of the project.
This move by the West Bengal state government comes as a part of the larger plan to strengthen the implementing mechanism of the PMPY across the state and ensure the timely and effective delivery of the benefits to the beneficiaries.
