5G Services Rolled Out in 329 Cities Across All Licensed Service Areas: MoS Devusinh Chauhan

5G services have been rolled out across 329 cities distribute across all certified company spots, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

“5G services have been rolled out in 329 towns distributed across all Licensed Provider Places (LSAs),” Chauhan pointed out.

The Centre for Advancement of Telematics (C-DoT) and Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) have made an indigenous 4G/5G technologies stack. The Proof of Principle of C-DoT’s 4G technologies stack has been successfully carried out in the BSNL network.

“RJIL’s stack is getting thoroughly deployed in rolling out of its 5G community. These indigenous technological innovation stacks may possibly be exported to other countries in upcoming,” the minister said.

In the meantime, to another problem, Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw claimed BSNL’s 5G solutions would be delivered immediately after rollout of 4G products and services all above India.

BSNL floated a tender on Oct 2022 for 1 lakh 4G internet sites. The bid was opened on November 23, 2022.

“The analysis of the bid has been concluded and is underneath submission for approval of the Team of Ministers (GoM). 4G solutions will be started out all about India which includes Maharashtra and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, inside of 18-24 months immediately after putting the Purchase Buy,” Vaishnaw explained.

Replying to a issue on the merger of BSNL and MTNL, MoS Chauhan reported that the Cabinet, although approving the revival bundle for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Restricted (BSNL) on July 27, 2022, experienced approved development of a Committee of Secretaries (CoS) for detailed assessment to solve issues of Mahanagar Phone Nigam Limited (MTNL) like merger of MTNL with BSNL.

To another issue on OTT communications sevices, Chauhan described that the draft Indian Telecommunication Bill, 2022 launched for community session in September, refers to ‘OTT interaction services’ as a sort of telecommunication company.

“The plan aim is that all sorts of telecommunication, which consist of OTT conversation companies, will need to be protected underneath the ambit of law. The draft Telecommunication Monthly bill, will undertake even further revision centered on opinions/tips obtained all through the public session,” Chauhan said.
