In November, WhatsApp banned 37.16 lakh accounts in the state, like 9.9 lakh accounts which were being barred proactively.
“In between December 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022, 3,677,000 WhatsApp accounts were being banned. 1,389,000 of these accounts have been proactively banned, prior to any stories from consumers,” WhatsApp said in its India Every month Report for December released less than the Facts Technologies Rules 2021.

WhatsApp has also taken swift action against users who violate its terms of service, by offering features like limiting forwarding of messages and adding a ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature, which allows users to delete messages sent to the wrong user group or the wrong person.
