Resource link In today’s society, the concept of setting a good example for one’s children can have a profound impact on a child’s development. However, it has been argued that this can also take a toll on a parent’s enjoyment of their middle age years.

It is true that parents must set a good example for their children, but this does not have to be at the expense of fun. Developing the desires and skills for independence, safety and responsibility in children is an essential part of parenting, and setting boundaries and guidelines are key to this. But parents can still have plenty of fun in their middle age years.

This is often much easier in families where both parents work together and can share responsibility while still enjoying some down time. Appropriate and responsible activities such as camping, swimming, bike riding and having a family barbeque all help teach children how to live happily and responsibly, while being a lot of fun in the process.

No matter how much parental guidance is given, children must learn how to live with their own decisions and be responsible for their own actions. Encouraging children to participate in activities with others their own age will help to reinforce their understanding of responsibility and the concept of consequence.

Ultimately, setting a good example for children should involve teaching by example as well as providing rules. This will allow parents to capture the full experiences of their middle age years, all while fostering a happy and secure environment for their children.
