Supply website link The world of competitive video gaming, also known as esports, has grown exponentially in recent years, and Ohio is no exception. Ohio’s new esports group is connecting aspiring high school students from across the state with the opportunity to hone their competitive gaming skills in a competitive environment.
Esports group Greater Ohio High School Esports (GOHSE) recently announced the launch of its competitive league for high school teams. The group’s mission is to “offer our members an opportunity to experience competitive gaming, develop camaraderie through team-based activities, and to help promote the importance of gaming in a positive and healthy way”.
The league offers three different seasons of competition in a variety of popular games—Rocket League, Overwatch, and League of Legends. The teams consist of five rostered players as well as an optional coach and/or substitute player. All participants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 and must be attending high school in Ohio.
GOHSE also revealed that each of the three seasons will be broadcasted on twitch.tv, allowing members of the public to watch and participate in the competitions. The organization has also established a rulebook and system of points and rewards to incentivize the teams’ highest performance.
The members of the GOHSE board of directors, many of whom are esports veterans, are enthusiastic about the potential for this program to positively impact Ohio’s gaming scene. By fostering a friendly and fair competitive environment for young players, GOHSE seeks to provide a platform from which some may begin to launch their professional gaming careers.
In short, GOHSE is a great way for Ohio’s high schoolers to get involved in their local gaming community, develop their skills, and pursue their dreams of becoming an esports professional.
