5G companies have been rolled out across 329 towns spread across all certified service places, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

Population-scale solutions are remaining tested on Indian 4G/5G indigenous stacks throughout the platforms these as health care, agriculture, good production, schooling, gaming, and drones, Minister of Condition for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan claimed in a published reply in the Lok Sabha.

“5G services have been rolled out in 329 cities distributed across all Licensed Support Areas (LSAs),” Chauhan pointed out.

The Center for Growth of Telematics (C-DoT) and Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) have made an indigenous 4G/5G know-how stack. The Evidence of Concept of C-DoT’s 4G engineering stack has been successfully carried out in the BSNL community.

“RJIL’s stack is becoming thoroughly deployed in rolling out of its 5G community. These indigenous technologies stacks may perhaps be exported to other nations around the world in potential,” the minister said.

Meanwhile, to a further issue, Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw explained BSNL’s 5G services would be presented immediately after rollout of 4G solutions all over India.

BSNL floated a tender on Oct 2022 for 1 lakh 4G web-sites. The bid was opened on November 23, 2022.

“The analysis of the bid has been concluded and is beneath submission for acceptance of the Group of Ministers (GoM). 4G providers will be started all over India like Maharashtra and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, inside 18-24 months right after placing the Invest in Order,” Vaishnaw mentioned.

Replying to a question on the merger of BSNL and MTNL, MoS Chauhan reported that the Cupboard, while approving the revival offer for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Restricted (BSNL) on July 27, 2022, had authorized development of a Committee of Secretaries (CoS) for in-depth evaluation to take care of matters of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) including merger of MTNL with BSNL.

To one more question on OTT communications sevices, Chauhan talked about that the draft Indian Telecommunication Invoice, 2022 unveiled for community consultation in September, refers to ‘OTT communication services’ as a type of telecommunication assistance.

“The coverage objective is that all types of telecommunication, which consist of OTT interaction providers, need to be protected below the ambit of legislation. The draft Telecommunication Bill, will undergo further revision based on remarks/suggestions acquired through the general public consultation,” Chauhan stated.
