Prof Dhananjay Singh Appointed As ICSSR Member Secretary

The Ministry of Schooling, Govt of India has appointed Prof Dhananjay Singh as Member Secretary of Indian Council of Social Science Study (ICSSR).

Prof Dhananjay Singh begun his instructing job at Sri Aurobindo College or university, College of Delhi, in August-September 2006 and thereafter taught at Satyawati College or university, University of Delhi from September 2006 to December 2007. He joined the Centre for English Reports, Jawaharlal Nehru College, as a school in 2007 and headed the centre as its Chairperson from January 2019 to January 2023.

He served as the Affiliate Dean of the University of Language, Literature and Society Reports from Might 2021 to January 23, 2023. He also served as Associate Dean of Learners, JNU, (November 2017 to September 2019) and Main Proctor of JNU (November 2019 to Might 2021). He served as the Warden at Chandrabhaga Hostel, Jawaharlal Nehru University (September 2010 to May 2017).

Professor Singh has extensive experience as an academic and research-related administrator in higher education. He has been associated with Visva-Bharati for the past sixteen years as Professor, HoD and Dean. In addition, he has previously worked as the Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University, Jharkhand and Karnataka State Open University.

Professor Singh is an active participant in national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars. He has attracted research grants from national and international agencies and organized workshops, seminars, and studied tours in India and abroad.

He has guided 19 students for their PhD during his tenure at Visva-Bharati and presented/published more than 90 papers in national and international journals, conferences, and symposiums. He is presently serving as an international member on the editorial boards of 5 journals — Landscape Rehabilitation, Annals of the ICSSR, ICSSR Journal of Indian Council for Social Science Research, ICSSR Research Management Journal and Asian Anthropologist.

Professor Singh’s appointment as ICSSR Member Secretary is expected to bring new vigour in the conduct and implementation of programmes under ICSSR. ICSSR is the premier planning body of social science research in India and is responsible for the management of research programmes in the area of social sciences.
