STEM education and learning in the Colorado Springs, Colo., place is benefiting from the increased availability of robotics kits and opposition options, thanks to donations flowing into the Rocky Mountain chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Affiliation. 1 case in point is the AFCEA Pikes Peak Robotics Classic, sponsored by the nonprofit partnering with Pikes Peak Robotics, to deliver alongside one another 20 community groups as effectively as some others from eight states and Canada.

The organization, called Start Robotics, Inc., is led by a group of experienced mentors and funded through donations and IT grants. These mentors work in partnership with local school districts, providing resources and educational materials to students to aid in the development of robotics and STEM-related skills.

Start Robotics, founded in 2016, has already empowered over 35,000 students across the state to acquire critical STEM knowledge necessary for success in the growing tech economy. Through workshops, grants and activities, the organization has provided resources that have helped to magnify the impact of STEM learning for young learners in the region.

Start Robotics implements techniques such as guided discovery, hands-on activities, virtual reality simulations, game-based learning and physical robotics challenges, to bring the exciting world of STEM learning to life for Colorado kids. Through these creative approaches, the organization also seeks to break down the gender and racial barriers that currently exist within the tech industry.

Start Robotics also boasts a variety of community outreach events, where community volunteers come together for a meaningful cause to help foster STEM skills in local students. Through fund-raising activities and other efforts, the community can get involved and help to ensure that all students have access to these invaluable learning opportunities.

By promoting robotics and STEM education within the state, Start Robotics is working to create a better future for Colorado’s youth. The organization’s mission is currently helping to prepare the next generation of tech innovators, while also introducing students to the potential of STEM.
