To help mitigate the risk of such security breaches, Microsoft and NIELIT are rolling out a cybersecurity training program that will educate, equip, and empower young people to protect themselves and their organisations from security threats. The program is part of Microsoft’s YouthSpark outreach initiative to empower youth with technology education and skills.
According to Microsoft, the training program covers the fundamentals of cybersecurity, covering topics like information security, privacy, digital identity, and data protection. The program also covers emerging topics such as secure programming, penetration testing and Risk Assessment and Management.
At the launch event, Microsoft India President Anant Maheshwari said, “Cybersecurity is a critical tool in defining today’s digital economy. Microsoft’s partnership with NIELIT is an effort to bridge the gap between our youth’s talent and the need for qualified, certified cybersecurity professionals. We are proud to provide young people the opportunity to gain valuable skills in an increasingly important field.”
The program is open to youth across the country and will be delivered in workshops and online courses by NIELIT-certified trainers. The program is part of a wider range of activities including a hackathon and a certification program, which Microsoft and NIELIT are partnering on to create a pool of certified cybersecurity professionals.
