Resource connection Recently, Indian Institute of Management, Kashipur (IIMK), Uttarakhand organized an information-oriented workshop for the school teachers of Rajaji National Park and Mindhal Shrine villages. The three-day workshop was conducted to provide an introduction to data-driven approach to school management and decision making.
Around 50 teachers of the two villages participated in the workshop. About two-thirds were from primary level and one-third were from higher school levels. The workshop was jointly organized by IIMK and the Rajaji National Park Development Board (RNPDB), which works to provide education to children from the villages surrounding the park.
The participants were provided with information about how data-driven approaches like use of customer relationship management (CRM), school year calendar, academy portal, dynamic teaching environment, benchmarking, student performance tracking and assessment criteria can be useful for teachers.
The participants also received hands-on training in the use of the software developed by IIMK specifically for school management, which is currently being used by many top schools in the state.
The workshop saw great participation from the teachers and also had a positive response from the RNPDB authorities. It was also appreciated by the general public who have expressed their appreciation for the initiative as it helps them understand the importance of data-driven approaches in improving their children’s academic results.
Overall, the workshop was a great success and it has provided valuable insights to the teachers. It is hoped that through this workshop the participants will be able to apply new data-driven methods to effectively manage their schools. IIMK is also planning similar workshops in other villages and its effort in providing access to quality education is highly laudable.
