On Saturday, May 20th, Greenwood High School in Ohio celebrated its graduation day. The day was filled with smiles, hugs, and a thousand memories for students who were celebrating the closing of their high school days.
Kicking off the day, students who were graduating marched across the stage to receive their diplomas. They were congratulated and cheered on by family members, friends, and loved ones that had supported their years of hard work.
One graduating senior remarked, “I’m so excited. I can’t believe it’s finally here! I can’t wait to go off to college and start a new chapter in life, but it’s bittersweet to be leaving my friends and family behind.”
Following the traditional procession, students had ample opportunity to take photos with one another and family, enjoy a catered lunch, and take part in the traditional lowering of the class flag.
The school was filled with a sense of hope and optimism as the event drew to a close. Students shared stories and advice with one another, wished each other luck, and made promises to stay in contact as they embark on their next adventures.
The PTA of Greenwood High also organized a fundraising bake sale for graduating students, by which families were able to send their newly-graduated children off with a special gift.
As the day ended and the students departed from their church and school, everyone was filled with a sense of excitement for the future that lay ahead. Everyone seemed to understand that regardless of what the future brought, Saturday had marked the closure of a big chapter in their lives.
Greenwood High School closed out its last graduation with a bang and will certainly be remembered for years to come.
